Reaction Time Test
Measure your reaction time in milliseconds across five attempts and see how you compare.
What counts as a good reaction time?
For a visual cue like this one, most alert adults land somewhere between 200 and 280 milliseconds. Under 200 is genuinely quick. Competitive gamers and athletes often sit in the 150–190 range, and almost nobody beats 120 — below that you are guessing rather than reacting.
Why your score moves around
Reaction time is sensitive to sleep, caffeine, time of day and how distracted you are, and the swing between a good and bad day can be 50 milliseconds or more. That is why this test averages five attempts instead of taking your single best.
Some of it isn’t you
Part of what you are measuring is hardware. A 60 Hz screen adds up to 17 milliseconds before the green even appears, and mouse polling and browser timing add a little more. Comparing your score across different devices is not really a fair fight.
